our day in l.a.; the mastadons aren't real, but the tar is.
we spent the night at the canyon rim and were able to wake up and watch the sunrise. it was cold, in single digits, and the sun takes a really long time to rise.
this is a picture studio that was built on the rim in the early twentieth century. now it is a gift shop.
the jetta did well. we actually had to use the heated windshield washer nozzles. i feel bad that the jeep didn't get to play in the snow and ice as well.
this is the same view as the first picture, about sixteen hours later. we didn't know what we were missing.
